I believe we have the power to choose who we want to become. But, unlike what wellness guru's and manifestation fanatics wanted me to think - I found that becoming ME actually started with the micro habits I practiced every single day.
When I decided to take control of my identity and routine, the world didn't exactly get on board. All my bills were still due, my deadlines waiting and my responsibilities piling on as usual. How can I possibly have time to choose who I want to become when I'm barely hanging on as is?! I just need productivity hacks right? That 5am-9am before my 9am-5pm they all talk about? YES! So I dove back into habits research and immediately implemented all the things.
SUCCESS! Not really. The problem no one talks about is that most habits advice and solutions are built around this tired idea of “work-life balance.”
I bought into it hard. For years I was happy balancing. "You can have it all Bee, but you can't have it all at the same time!" That's okay - life is all about sacrifice after all! But then I became a mother of one... then two under two. The weight of that word balance fell down on me like thick dark smoke. I have to sacrifice THIS? That's when I knew - the whole idea of balance is one bold LIE!
